What if peace isn’t something you need to find?
What if it’s already there, underneath all the thinking, worrying, striving and general busyness of everyday life?
Stop Taking The Peace is a podcast hosted by David Glover and Greg Horner, exploring yoga, meditation, spirituality, mindfulness, self-awareness, relationships, meaning, purpose, inner peace and the strange business of being human.
We’re not here to tell you how to live your life.
We’re simply two friends having honest conversations about some of the questions that have interested us for years.
Sometimes serious.
Sometimes philosophical.
Occasionally quite profound.
And quite often taking the piss out of ourselves along the way.

What does it mean to stop taking the peace?
Most of us spend a remarkable amount of time looking for peace.
We look for it in relationships, work, money, holidays, achievements, possessions, meditation, yoga, books and endless attempts to improve ourselves.
And yet, despite all that effort, the mind can still be busy.
There is always something else to sort out.
Something else to achieve.
Something else to worry about.
Something else to understand.
So perhaps the question isn’t “How do I find peace?”
Perhaps it’s:
“What am I doing that gets in the way of the peace that’s already here?”
That’s the territory we explore in Stop Taking The Peace.
Listen to What Does It Mean to Stop Taking The Peace?
Two ordinary people asking some fairly big questions
The podcast is hosted by David Glover and Greg Horner.
We’re both interested in yoga, meditation, spirituality, shamanism, mindfulness and the possibility of living a more relaxed and meaningful life.
But we’re not coming at this from the position of having all the answers.
Quite the opposite.
We’re curious.
We question things.
We disagree sometimes.
We talk about our own experiences.
And we’re willing to admit when we haven’t got a clue.
The conversations are grounded in real life rather than abstract spiritual theory.
Because whatever we discover about meditation, awareness or consciousness is only really useful if it has something to do with how we actually live.
What do we talk about?
There isn’t a strict formula.
The conversations tend to wander wherever the subject takes us.
But some themes keep appearing.
Yoga
Yoga is Dave’s passion and is much more than physical exercise.
We explore yoga philosophy, meditation, awareness, the breath and some of the ideas that sit behind the physical practice.

Meditation and mindfulness
What actually happens when we sit quietly?
Why is it so difficult to stop thinking?
Is meditation about emptying the mind?
And what happens when we begin to notice our thoughts rather than automatically believing them?

Spirituality
You don’t need to subscribe to a particular religion to be interested in spirituality.
We explore questions around consciousness, awareness, the nature of reality, the mystery of existence and our relationship with something bigger than ourselves.
Sometimes there are no satisfying answers.
And perhaps that’s part of the point.
Listen to The Great Mystery: A conversation on awakening and inner peace.
Inner peace
Is peace something we achieve, or something we uncover?
Why do we seem so determined to disturb our own peace?
And what happens when we stop trying quite so hard to make everything work out?
Listen to our podcast episode Become Free of Mental & Emotional Turmoil where we explore inner peace and living with less mental noise.
Self-awareness
Much of what we experience is shaped by habits, conditioning, beliefs and stories we’ve accumulated over the years.
The more aware we become of these patterns, the more choice we may have about how we respond.

Meaning and purpose
What makes a life meaningful?
What are we actually trying to achieve?
And how much of what we pursue is genuinely important to us?
These aren’t questions with simple answers, but they’re worth asking.
Listen to our podcast about meaning, purpose and self-awareness in the episode called The Success Trap: Finding peace beyond achievement and ambition.
Relationships and being human
Spirituality isn’t much use if it only works while we’re sitting quietly on a meditation cushion.
Relationships, work, family, ageing, ambition, fear and everyday frustrations are where the practice gets tested.
That’s where the interesting stuff happens.

What Does It Mean to Stop Taking The Peace?
What does it actually mean to stop taking your own peace?
We explore the idea behind the podcast and why peace may have less to do with changing what’s happening around us and more to do with how we relate to what’s happening inside us.
The Great Mystery
What if some things are simply impossible to understand?
Rather than seeing uncertainty as a problem that needs solving, we explore the possibility that accepting the mystery of life can actually be liberating.
A Conversation on Awakening and Inner Peace
What does awakening actually mean?
Is it something dramatic, or can it be something much more ordinary?
We explore awareness, inner peace and what it might mean to wake up to the life we’re already living.
Finding Balance: The Yogic Secret of the Three Gunas
Yoga philosophy has a fascinating way of describing the different qualities that influence our experience of life.
We explore the three gunas — sattva, rajas and tamas — and what they might have to tell us about balance, energy and the mind.
Become Free of Mental and Emotional Turmoil
Is it possible to experience difficult thoughts and emotions without being completely caught up in them?
We explore the possibility of creating some space around our internal experience rather than constantly trying to control it.

It’s not really a podcast about having all the answers
There are plenty of people willing to tell you exactly how to live a better life.
We’re less interested in that.
The conversations are about exploration.
We talk about things we’ve experienced, ideas we’ve encountered and questions we haven’t resolved.
Sometimes a conversation leaves us with an answer.
Sometimes it leaves us with a better question.
And sometimes it just leaves us wondering what on earth we were talking about.
That’s part of the fun.
From yoga and meditation to everyday life
The podcast sits alongside David’s work through BendYoga and Greg’s work as a spiritual teacher and shamanic practitioner.
But you don’t need to practise yoga or meditation to listen.
You don’t need to be “spiritual”.
You don’t need to believe in anything in particular.
If you’ve ever had the feeling that there must be more to life than simply getting through the week, this podcast might be worth exploring.
If you’ve tried yoga, meditation, mindfulness or spirituality and wondered what any of it has got to do with real life, you’re probably in the right place.
And if you’re simply interested in having a thoughtful conversation about what it means to be human, you’re welcome too.
